For last-minute Christmas shoppers who’ve discovered that AirPods are sold out on Apple‘s online store, the most pressing concern with respect to the high-tech accessory is simply getting their hands on a pair. So while Apple is having trouble keeping up with demand for its hottest product, the company still plans to offer a new and upgraded AirPod in 2018. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a leading Apple analyst at KGI Securities, the next-gen AirPod will launch in the second half 2018, featuring a “smaller quartz component” and a higher price point than the current $159. As for the current model, Kuo expects the supply chain to improve heading into 2018, allowing shipments to grow 100 percent year over year to 28 million units.
