Manhattan’s Anel French Cleaners was a neighborhood institution that had been running as a dry cleaners since the ‘60s. When the owners decided to retire, though, they handed the building over to Australian skin care brand Aesop. The brand, which has a reputation for its store designs, decided to pay tribute to the space’s history by restoring the old sign and keeping the space intact. The store, which was designed by New York’s Tacklebox Architecture, features a predominantly wood interior, with the shelves designed to look like clothes hangers to reference the store’s previous life.
