Near Australia’s St. Andrews Beach sits a translucent beach house constructed from European-imported polycarbonate and steel. Architect Robin Williams designed what has become an award-winning structure that draws inspiration from his international travels and Queensland’s sand dunes, evidenced in the unique sloping used in elements of the flooring. Water and purity are focal points with rooms compartmentalized within translucent walls used to hide certain home elements like the bathroom and kitchen; swimming pool with a dropped walkway leading to a secret garden and shallow pond surrounding one of the bedrooms. The light reflects off these bodies of waters and onto the walls during the day, and at night the home’s insulation changes colours.
